The potential for a Upper St Johns River cruise has stirred quite a bit of interest in the past couple of months.  Our initial plans were to make this a venue checkout trip with a small core group of participants.  However, in view of information provided by John Carter, Laurie Hauke (Airboating Magazine) and from online research, we are comfortable that this venue is going to be well suited for hovercraft.

Loughman Lake Lodge offers a launch ramp, restaurant, camping and cabins at the edge of Loughman Lake, which connects to the St Johns River upstream of Puzzle Lake.  This is an airboat friendly location and welcomes our presence.  Unfortunately they have only 3 cabins and each of these has already been booked by participants of our event.  For those interested in alternate overnight accommodations, Titusville, FL is only 10 miles East of here.

Better bring your GPS as dropping breadcrumbs doesn't work in an area with an abundance of seagulls.

Here are a few links with additional information on the beautiful and extraordinarily remote area.

If you don't already have one, acquire a visibility flag for your hovercraft.  Some individuals dispute the application of this local law to hovercraft.  Whether its law or not, we want this to be a fun and safe event.  Bring one if you plan to operate here.

Remember that this is gator country, don't open your door down here for just anybody.  Also a bad place for a hovercraft breakdown so do your PM before the trip.  Drive safe on the trip down and look forward to seeing you there.
